MOUNTAIN BIKING: Raider Trails

← TX ANGELINA RV ALTO TX Single Tracks →

Description

These trails are the result of a combined effort of volunteers and SFA University. They are approximately 8 miles long when ridden in their entirety. There are several shabby, but informative trail signs to guide new riders around. The majority is technical and tight singletrack with several ascents, descents, and quick switchbacks. Bridges have been placed in two areas on the north end of the trails. On the southern portion are more trails with the local favorite, "Scooby." Scooby is considered an advanced trail by the locals with almost a dozen good size jumps, several berms, super fast and flowy switchbacks, and even a bowl that you drop down into and shoot out the other side. Be sure and be aware for riders coming up the wrong way as this trail is extremely fast. Other trails on the network are North Loop, Gateway, Perimeter, Labyrinth, and Creekside.

Directions

The entrance to the trails is located at the intersection of University and E. College St. across from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. There is an opening on the east side of the intersection. A crosswalk is available. You can obtain a visitors parking pass to park on campus or park at Pecan Park on Star St. and ride east to the creek then turn left on Lanana Creek Trail which continues along the intramural fields then turn right across the footbridge into the arboretum. From there you'll find a route to the sidewalk along University. Take a left and proceed to the stop light at E. College and cross over (to your right/east) to enter the trails.
